SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2021, 9:00 AM TO 1:00 PM (OR 1:30 PM, IF NEEDED)

INSTRUCTORS, JOHN BURRUTO AND TRACEY BROOKS: MA STATE POLICE AND NRA CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS

The purpose of the course is to ensure that each enrollee learns well the basic principles and skills of firearms safety. Enrollees will learn of the components of hand- guns, rifles, and shotguns. They will learn to safely load and unload firearms, using dummy, training ammunition. They will learn safe handling and management skills of both hand and long guns, such as muzzle and trigger discipline. They will learn safe gun cleaning procedures, and safe home storage and basic transportation rules and law. Enrollees will be introduced to the wide variety of ammunition and the critical match between the appropriate ammunition and guns.

The instructors will emphasize the habitual compliance with all firearms safety rules.

Enrollees will be provided with the NRA Firearms Safety Handbook and other materials, including advice regarding how to shop for a first handgun, and the LTC/FID application procedure. Enrollees who successfully complete the course will be awarded with the MA State Police Certificate that is required for application for MA firearms license (LTC or FID), as well as the NRA Certificate of completion.

To request an enrollment application form, or if you have questions regarding the course, please contact Instructor John Burruto at jeburruto@comcast.net or 413-335-3443. Writable application forms will be attached to replying emails. The application form provides further details. The course is open to both non-members and members of the Franklin County Sportsmen’s Club.

The fee is $125.00, payable to John Burruto by check submitted with the completed application form.

FYI: Demand for the Firearms Safety Classes is high. If interested, it would be prudent to quickly request an application form, and to return the form and fee ASAP, as applicants are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. Class enrollment may continue to be limited in size due to extended Covid-19 precautions (which may continue to remain in effect).

In the unlikely case of class cancellation or postponement for any reason, enrollees will be notified via email or phone call. For that purpose, enrollees are asked to keep email and phone access open on the evening of Oct. 22 and prior to 8 a.m. on Oct. 23. Subsequent arrangements will be communicated when established.
